WILDFLOWERS

A blooming natural wonderland

Every spring, Albany and the surrounding Great Southern region burst into colour as thousands of wildflower species bloom across coastal heathlands, forests, and national parks. Home to one of the world’s richest floral biodiversity hotspots, Albany showcases an incredible display of native wildflowers from August to November, with peak blooming typically in September and October.

Visitors can discover orchids, banksias, kangaroo paws, everlastings and bottlebrushes, many of which are endemic to the region—meaning they’re found nowhere else on Earth. Popular viewing spots include Torndirrup National Park, Two Peoples Bay, Stirling Range National Park, and Mount Barker, where walking trails and lookouts offer stunning views of both wildflowers and the surrounding landscapes.
